Ji Liu to perform Boris Bergmann’s The Richter Scale in Berlin

On Thursday, 16th May 2024 at 10pm Steinway Artist, Ji Liu will perform The Richter Scale, by Berlin-based composer, Boris Bergmann. The concert is being produced by Classical:NEXT and sponsored by Fever and Steinway & Sons Berlin.

The concert will be held in the beautiful Gethsemanekirche in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin. The Richter Scale is recent piano composition by celebrated German composer and Heresy Records artist, Boris Bergmann . The hour-long work was created for Steinway’s Spirio | r, the world’s finest high-resolution player piano. The Richter Scale is a programmatic composition in 11 movements inspired by Charles F. Richter’s scale for measuring the magnitude of earthquakes.

The Richter Scale premiered in concert at Steinway Hall London in November in 2019 and was recorded at Steinway Shanghai in September 2021. Over the past two years the young London-based Chinese pianist Ji Liu has performed the piece at major concert venues throughout China. The recording of The Richter Scale was released in 2023 by the critically acclaimed Irish-based label, Heresy Records.
